Whether you hated or loved it, you've got to agree that Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," at the very least, gave us all something to talk about for a really, really long time. And just when you thought the discussion was over, here comes a new clip ahead of the movie's home-video release in early October. The exclusive clip from Hey U Guys features Captain Janek (Idris Elba) getting prepared for his voyage aboard Prometheus. It is, like all things "Prometheus"-related, terribly mysterious.
It's a brief clip, less than a minute long, and is preceded by images and symbols that we're fairly certain someone is hard at work decoding right now. Some of the footage looks like costume test stuff, with Elba standing in his space suit and turning around for various angles, but an off-camera voice asks questions like "Blood type?" "Years in the service?" All the while, unseen medical personnel prod him and attach electronic sensors to his forehead. The best moment is when he lights up a cigarette in this clearly sterile white room.
While the footage looks to have been B-roll stuff for the movie's extensive viral marketing campaign, we can't be too sure, and we'll be interested to see where, on the eventual Blu-ray release, this sequence ends up. We hope there is more of this kind of material – that deepens and furthers our understanding of the world of "Prometheus" while still revealing new mysteries. (We were very much in the "pro" camp when it came to the film.)
The "Prometheus" Blu-ray will be on DVD, Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray on October 8th overseas and October 11th in the US.
