While many of you are probably not familiar with the 1986 film “Mosquito Coast,” actor Justin Theroux definitely is. You see, the actor’s uncle, Paul Theroux, is the author who penned the novel that the film is based on. And that’s why it’s so fitting that Justin is now attached to a new version of the project, coming to Apple TV+.
THR is reporting that Apple TV+ has ordered a TV series based on the novel and film, “Mosquito Coast.” Justin Theroux, who is best known for his roles in films like “American Psycho,” “The Girl on the Train,” and “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” as well as the recent series “The Leftovers” and “Maniac,” is set to star in the film about a married man that moves his wife and kids to a remote jungle in Central America. As you might expect with such things, the move doesn’t really go as planned.

Also joining the series are Neil Cross and Tom Bissell will write the pilot episode, with Cross continuing on as the showrunner. He’s probably best known for his work on the BBC series “Luthor.” Director Rupert Wyatt is on board as the pilot episode’s director, as well as executive producer.
“Mosquito Coast” joins the plethora of titles coming to Apple TV+. The new streaming service is expected to launch on November 1, and will be available for the low, low price of only $4.99 per month. That is, unless you’re one of the millions that plan on buying an Apple product soon, as those people will get the service for free for 12 months.
The service is different from Netflix and Hulu in that it will be an added thing to Apple TV, the platform that allows people to rent/buy movies and TV series. Similar to Amazon Prime Video, anyone will be able to purchase content, but the exclusive programs will be for subscribers only.
