Kate Mara Also In The Mix For 'Star Wars' Spinoff, Jake Gyllenhaal Passes On 'Suicide Squad' And More

TranscendenceEven with Hollywood descending on Park City for the Sundance Film Festival, which kicks off tonight, don’t think for a moment the wheels on their blockbuster franchises have stopped turning. And there are a few big projects that at the moment are trying to lock down a cast.

"Suicide Squad," set to shoot in April, has a big hole to fill with Tom Hardy recently exiting the production. On the wishlist to replace him was Jake Gyllenhaal but Warner Bros. will have to keep looking as the actor has passed on the role of Rick Flagg, Variety reports. The clock is ticking…any suggestions you want to give WB?

Over at Disney, they’re gearing up "The Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," and Deadline reports that early talks are under way for "The Maze Runner" and "Skins" star Kaya Scodelario to swing in and join Johnny Depp as the female lead.

Word came Earlier this week  that Rooney Mara ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”) and “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany were testing for a key female role in Gareth Edwards‘ untitled "Star Wars" spinoff, with Oscar-nominated “The Theory Of Everything” actress Felicity Jones also on a wishlist. You can add another name into the mix, with Kate Mara ("House Of Cards," "The Fantastic Four") also testing, according to Variety. Hey Disney, maybe give Jessica Chastain a call? She’d love to be in one of your movies. Check out her "Star Wars" thoughts below, which start at the 2:30 mark.
