There are a ton of actors who are making the jump from films to prestige TV series over the past several years. Shockingly, one of the last holdouts seems to be Keanu Reeves. But apparently, all that was needed to get “The Matrix” star to finally come over to the TV dark side is Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese.
According to Deadline, Keanu Reeves is going to star in the upcoming Hulu adaptation of the acclaimed book, “The Devil in the White City.” The series will follow the story of two men during the World’s Fair in 1893, an architect who is trying to make his mark and another man who is a serial killer crafting his own area to mutilate women. ‘White City’ is written by “Castle Rock” creator Sam Shaw, and believe it or not, acclaimed filmmaker Todd Field is set to direct at least two episodes of the series.
As mentioned, ‘White City’ marks the first real TV role for Reeves, who is primarily known for his films such as “The Matrix” franchise and most recently, the “John Wick” franchise. “The Devil in the White City” has been in development for more than a decade, with DiCaprio purchasing the rights back in 2010 with an eye on starring in a film adaptation directed by Scorsese. However, at this point, it appears both men will be strictly producers on the project.
