Keanu Reeves will topline the currently-in-production indie-drama “Generation Um…” to be directed by “Finishing Heaven” helmer Mark L. Mann.
With Bojana Novakovic (Mel Gibson‘s daughter in “The Edge Of Darkness”) and Adelaide Clemens (“Mad Max: Fury Road”) also starring, the film follows the life of Reeves’ protagonist and his two accomplices for a day as they “live life on the fringe, immersed in sex, drugs and indecision. As they navigate their daily routine of bars and crowds they embark on a path of self-discovery.”
Hmm, sounds like a pretty dubious prospect of contemporary L.A. debauchery, but it definitely seems like an interesting project for the always-puzzling Reeves who occasionally takes a picture where he has to act, but then goes right back to the vapid tentpole thing (imagine doing a retrospective on this guy? Man, his career is spotty at best). He does, however, have an potentially strong turn coming up in Malcolm Venville’s TIFF-starrer “Henry’s Crime,” scribed by “Anvil!” director Sacha Gervasi, alongside Vera Farmiga.
Nicolas Chartier of Voltage Films (“The Hurt Locker”) will be exec-producing alongside Jared Goldman and Company Film’s Alison Palmer who worked with Reeves on “Henry’s Crime,” which hopefully signifies this is low-key vehicle for Reeves’ acting.
