After the critically acclaimed horror films, “Get Out,” and “Us,” writer/director Jordan Peele is getting his next feature film in order. The leads, Keke Palmer (“Scream,” and from Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Girls”) and a reunion with Daniel Kaluuya, who played Peele’s lead in their breakout film, “Get Out.”

The bad news, details are totally under wraps, and no one knows what the film is about. But Peele has made a name for himself—outside of his excellent comedy career—for making socially conscious horror that deals with race, the Black experience, and horror for the black audience, so presumably he’s going to stay in that lane for now (which would be more than fine for us).

While details are under wraps, the expectations for the film must be big. Universal Pictures has already given the film a big primetime release date of July 22, 2022; smack dab in the middle of the blockbuster season.

By then, the film should have a big boost in Kaluuya, who is coming off the critically-acclaimed “Judas And the Black Messiah” and should be a two-time Oscar nominee by the time the movie is made (he’ll have a good shot at winning too). No timetable for the shoot has been revealed yet, but the date means, we’ll probably know more later in the year.

Peele will also produce alongside Ian Cooper for their Monkeypaw Productions. The project falls under Monkeypaw’s exclusive five-year deal with Universal. [Deadline]
