Keren Ann Writing/Producing Songs For Emmanuelle Seigner, Scoring 'Thelma, Louise & Chantal'

Well, it isn’t exactly Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck, but pop songstress Keren Ann, along with French singer Doriand, has just finished work writing and producing songs for actress Emmanuelle Seigner’s forthcoming album, Dingue (it means “crazy” in English). Seigner is the wife of one Roman Polanski and the album apparently features (or once featured) a duet with her husband, and was reportedly due this fall, but was shelved because of the drama.

We kind of forgot Seigner has a singing career as well, but she previously fronted and released an album with the band Ultra Orange. North American films fans might know them best for singing “Don’t Kiss Me Goodbye” that was featured heavily in the trailers for “The Diving Bell & The Butterfly” (she also had a role in the film as Mathieu Almaric’s estranged wife). Seigner’s latest album hits stores in France on January 26th. You can preview a couple of songs from Dingue over at Seigner’s MySpace page.

But that’s not the only Keren Ann project to see the light of day in January, her soundtrack to the forthcoming film “Thelma, Louise & Chantal” will hit stores as well. Directed by Benoit Petre and starring Jane Birkin, Catherine Jacob & Caroline Cellier, the film is about three friends who decide to attend the wedding of an ex-boyfriend that they all dated years ago. The film will hit French cinemas on March 3rd, and we’re guessing that it doesn’t end with the trio of friends driving off a cliff.

Keren Ann currently has a couple of shows in New York City in the middle of December, and released La Ballade Of Lady & Bird this fall, a project recorded live with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
