Shooting has begun on the sequel to "The Muppets," and even though it's not out until over a year from now, it's never too early to start marketing. And so, the first official images from the movie has arrived, and it's basically a collection of all the felt characters you know and love along with Ricky Gervais. But more importantly, a title and some actual plot details for upcoming movie have been revealed.
Kermit sat down with EW to talk shop about "Muppets…Again!" (uh…still time to change that title guys….) and he dished on what happens next to the gang, as thus far, we've only known that it's some kind of Euro caper. "The idea of this film is that our gang is on this global tour, and we’re selling out these grand theaters all over Europe—in Berlin, Madrid, London—but we sort of get into a little bit of trouble when we run across my doppleganger," he explained. "He’s the world’s number one criminal, Constantine, and he happens to look an awful lot like me. I won’t tell you any more than that, but let’s just say mayhem ensues."
Ricky Gervais will be the sidekick to the doppelganger (and Kermit says he won't be playing dual roles), with Tina Fey as a Russian prison guard, Ty Burrell as an Interpol agent and probably a whole host of cameos yet to be announced or discovered. The James Bobin directed movie will arrive on March 21, 2014 and let's hope they do that trailer pardoy thing again, because that was pretty delightful. Update: 1 new, slightly different image at the bottom.
