Kevin Bacon Returns As Valentine McKee For 'Tremors' TV Series

Tremors“I broke down and fell to the sidewalk, screaming to my pregnant wife, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing a movie about underground worms!’” Kevin Bacon told The Telegraph in 2013 about a breakdown he had during a particularly low point in his career. Of course, the movie he’s referring to is "Tremors," and ever since, the picture has grown in cult status to become a beloved favorite, spawning numerous direct-to-video efforts as well. So it was only a matter time before the property got a reboot, but it’s (pleasantly) surprisingly that Bacon himself will be involved.

Deadline reports that the actor is executive producing and will star in a "Tremors" TV series. Universal Cable Prods and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Prods. are backing the show that return audiences to the town of Perfection and put Valentine McKee back in the mix against those pesky worms. There’s no network signed up just yet, but Blumhouse in particular knows how to package this stuff at a price that’s often too good to resist, so I don’t doubt that it’ll land somewhere.

Now, as superfans might know, this isn’t the first time "Tremors" has gone to the small screen. The Sci-Fi Channel ha a short lived series in 2003, and you can check out the first episode below. The new version has a pretty low bar to beat when it comes to improving upon what came before, but matching the original movie will be tough to beat.
