Kevin Feige Repeats: Fantastic Four Not Returning To Marvel

Kevin Feige must be wondering how many times he has to say that Fantastic Four aren’t coming back to Marvel. Last fall he said it was an “impossibility,” and just last month he once again said there were zero plans on the table for the superheroes, whose big screen rights still belong to 20th Century Fox. However, with San Diego Comic Con on the horizon, some fresh rumors have sprung up.

In typically fanboy fashion where mountains are made out of molehills, chatter started going around that some kind of Fantastic Four announcement might be happening at SDCC, when a picture emerged from the Marvel Studios convention space featuring four objects covered in sheets. Seriously, that’s all it takes to stir up the speculation machine. You would think fans might realize that an announcement as huge as as Fantastic Four returning to Marvel would be kept a massive secret, and left out in the open where anybody could really see what was underneath those sheets if they wanted to. At any rate, sorry, it’s not Fantastic Four.

“I’ve been at Marvel for 17 years… There are certainly no plans whatsoever for that,” Feige explained to Yahoo Movies at D23. “But too many amazing things have happened over the past 17 years for me ever say never. But for now, nothing.”

So, there you go. Whatever Marvel announces this weekend, there will be nothing about Fantastic Four.
