We may have entered a New Year, but old habits die hard, particularly when it comes to people praising movies weeks and even months before they are due to be released. And I’m not talking about the random test screening review reports that come out from time to time, but directors going to bat for stuff they’ve managed to see early, or in the case of Kevin Smith, haven’t seen at all.
In his latest "Fatman On Batman" podcast (via Flickering Myth), Smith flipped for "Deadpool" pretty hard. “It’s time to fucking let up on Ryan Reynolds for ‘Green Lantern‘ because he’s fucking over-delivered on this ‘Deadpool’ film,” Smith declared. “I haven’t even seen it and based on the trailers alone, I’m like, ‘This may be the greatest motion-picture ever made.’ It’s crazy! The tone is pitch perfect! He is perfectly cast! The costume looks fucking great! Colossus is in it!”

Woo! So I guess those twelve days of "Deadpool" paid off, and got Fox at least one person very excited. (Okay, probably a lot more too). Advertising works, kids.
Meanwhile, remember last summer when James Gunn said "Ant-Man" was his favorite Marvel movie since "Iron Man"? Well, six months later he’s crowned a new king.
“I saw ‘[Captain America:] Civil War‘ and I think it’s incredible,” the director said in a recent Facebook Q&A (via EW). “It’s one of the best Marvel movies ever, and I can’t believe what a wonderful job [directors Joe and Anthony Russo] did. And the cast. Oh my God, they’re so good. So it’s an amazing film and people are going to be really excited to see that come summertime.”
Woo! So it looks like "Deadpool," "Captain America: Civil War," and "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" (according to a couple rogue, random viewers) will all be the super greatest ever.
