Kevin Smith, fresh off hosting CW‘s advertorial "DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League," seems to have another secret up his sleeve about Warner Bros. plans for their deep dive into the DC Films catalog. The TV side already has "Arrow," "The Flash," and the recently launched "Legends Of Tomorrow" (that are all connected) which as far as we know, stand separate from the movies. However, on Smith’s latest "Fatman On Batman" podcast, the director thinks Grant Gustin‘s iteration of "The Flash" could still leap to the big screen.
So chalk it all up to a "maybe." For me, it sounds like an interesting idea but I’m guessing WB is going to walk before they run, and make sure they have a good reason for two Flash-es to be running around on the big screen.
Meanwhile, director Zack Sndyer, in an interview with Famous Monsters, defends the mega-destruction in "Man Of Steel," because it raises the stakes of the film, and that fallout ties into his upcoming film.
“I stand by it, because for me, I’ve always said when I was working on ‘Watchmen‘ — and maybe it’s sort of left over from a ‘Watchmen’ philosophical sort of thing — that there should be consequences to superheroes’ interaction with the earth," he said. "And that was kind of the way that we approached ‘Man Of Steel.’ I wanted a big consequence to Superman’s arrival on earth. Certainly, ‘Batman v Superman’ sort of cashes in all its chips on the ‘why’ of that destruction.”
The director also promises a "philosophically satisfying, but also physically real" confrontation between Superman and Batman.
