A24 has released a terrifically cheeky Christmas themed home video trailer for “The Killing Of A Sacred Deer,” which we’re pleased to exclusively debut. Starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Raffey Cassidy, and Barry Keoghan, the story follows Dr. Steven Murphy, a renowned cardiovascular surgeon presiding over a spotless household with his ophthalmologist wife Anna and their two exemplary children, 12-year-old Bob and 14-year- old Kim. Lurking at the margins of his idyllic suburban existence is Martin, a fatherless teen who Steven has covertly taken under his wing. As Martin begins insinuating himself into the family’s life in ever-more unsettling displays, the full scope of his intent becomes menacingly clear when he confronts Steven with a long- forgotten transgression that will shatter the Murphy family’s domestic bliss.
The film is bleakly funny, slowly uncoiling its hair-raising moments, from one unforgettable scene to the next. The film will leave you breathless, but also thinking about it days after you’ve seen it. Indeed, as Jessica Kiang says, it’s “absolutely fucking brilliant.”
“The Killing Of A Sacred Deer” hits Digital HD on Tuesday, December 19th and is available to rent starting on Tuesday, December 26th.
