Fresh off his breakout role in “One Night in Miami…” (but he also was great in “The OA”), Kingsley Ben-Adir is doing what all rising actors do nowadays—joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Except, it appears that Ben-Adir won’t be suiting up as a good guy in the forthcoming Disney+ series, “Secret Invasion.”
According to Variety, Kingsley Ben-Adir has been added to the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming streaming series, “Secret Invasion.” The exact role he is going to play is not yet revealed (did you expect anything less?), but the report claims that Ben-Adir is set to portray a “main villain” in the alien invasion series.

For those not aware of Marvel Comics lore, “Secret Invasion” is also the name of a popular comic book series that found the Marvel Universe infiltrated by the shape-shifting Skrulls. Some heroes were revealed to be aliens the whole time, and the Avengers had to deal with an invasion that had already been happening for decades earlier, right under their noses. Of course, the Disney+ series is only going to derive inspiration from the comics and will tell its own spin on the invasion story.
Ben-Adir is set to join Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn in the upcoming series. Those latter two actors previously teamed up in “Captain Marvel,” with Jackson’s Nick Fury building an unlikely friendship with Mendelsohn’s Talos, a good Skrull. Last we saw, at the end of “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” Fury had hopped on a spaceship with the good Skrulls and was headed to some unknown location.

“Secret Invasion” is one of many new shows headed to Disney+ over the next couple of years. It’s unclear where it might land in the production cycle, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see “Secret Invasion” arrive sometime before the end of 2022.
