After Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale was spotted on the set of Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring," likely playing a club-promoter cohort of the titular group of teens, set photos today reveal former Coppola muse Kirsten Dunst ("The Virgin Suicides," "Marie Antoinette") on set with Emma Watson and, judging by her attire, we'd say it looks like more than just a simple set visit.
Dunst herself wasn't one of the real-life group's targets in 2008 and 2009 so it remains to be seen what role she could play or whether she'll in fact feature as herself. Either way, we're sure Coppola will have no trouble fitting her into the story of celeb-obsessed teens who stole as much as $3m worth of jewellery, cash and designer goods from a coterie of famous faces of Dunst's generation, including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Audrina Partridge and Rachel Bilson.
Newcomers Israel Broussard and Katie Chang lead the cast that includes Watson, Taissa Farmiga, Carlos Miranda, Claire Pfister, Georgia Rock and Leslie Mann. Our script review noted that the film has "an almost docu-drama feel throughout" as it details the group efforts "scouring gossip sites for the whereabouts of their favorite celebs, breaking and entering when they're away and taking clothes, cash, naked photos and even a gun (from Brian Austin Green, of all people), using their spoils to finance a hard-partying, coke-snorting lifestyle, with little regard for the possibility of getting caught."
As we mentioned yesterday, we're not expecting the cameos to end here — after all, Coppola's last film featured a long list of appearances including Benicio Del Toro, rockers Rooney, Laura Ramsey, Erin Wasson, Alden Ehrenreich and Playboy twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon. Hopefully we'll see what Coppola has up her sleeve before the year is out. [DailyMail/GossipCenter/Zimbio]
