Johnson is no stranger to the world of cinematic crime; his debut feature, “Brick,” centered around the mysterious murder of a teenage girl, and his status soared after directing several critically-acclaimed episodes of “Breaking Bad.” “Knives Out” will reportedly draw not only Johnson’s experience with murder mysteries but classics of the genre as well, including: “Death on the Nile,” “Deathtrap,” “Clue,” “Murder on the Orient Express,” “The Private Eyes,” “The Last of Sheila,” “Evil Under the Sun,” “The Mirror Crack’d,” and “Something’s Afoot.”

“Knives Out” was sold to Lionsgate at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival after its original announcement in September of 2018. It was produced by Film Nation Entertainment, Media Rights Capital, and Ram Bergman Productions. Filming took place in Boston, MA.
