Kristen Stewart Joins Kelly Reichardt’s Untitled Montana Drama With Michelle Williams & More

Still Alice

Looks like most of those rumors turned out to be true. The director of modern minimalist classics like “Wendy & Lucy,”Old Joy,” “Meek’s Cutoff,” and “Night Moves”  that latter film we just placed on our 50 Best Films Of The Decade So Far list  a new Kelly Reichardt film is always cause for celebration. And so we greatly anticipate her upcoming project, an untitled, vignette-driven drama set in small town Montana.

And the already-terrific cast just got even better. Kristen Stewart, coming off two great performances in “Clouds of Sils Maria” and “Camp X-Ray,” has joined the film. According to Deadline, she will portray a lawyer from Boise, Idaho who takes a teaching job several hours from her house. Stewart’s character develops a friendship with a local woman who’s auditing her class. Michelle Williams “stars” (or just might be the biggest name in the cast), and the cast also includes Laura Dern, James Le GrosJared Harris ("Mad Men"), and newcomer Sara Rodier. Film Divider revealed most of the film’s setting and tone last week and pegged most of the cast in advance too.

That’s a solid cast all around and definitely marks this as a highly anticipated 2016 project. What festival it might debut at is anyone’s guess this far out, though if you wanna speculate, Reichardt’s films tend to debut in Venice. See you on the Lido more than a year from now?
