'La Vie En Rose' Director Olivier Dahan To Direct Soccer Comedy 'Les Seigneurs'

Best known for directing Marion Cotillard to worldwide fame and an Oscar win in “La Vie En Rose,” director Olivier Dahan has lined up his next project and unlike his latest effort — the largely forgotten country music drama “My Own Love Song” which is heading straight-to-DVD — he’s getting out of the music world and stepping into sports instead.

Tout Le Cine reports that an ensemble cast including José Garcia, Gad Elmaleh (who will be seen in Woody Allen‘s “Midnight In Paris“), Ramzy Bedia, Franck Dubosc, Omar Sy, Joey Starr and Jean-Pierre Marielle have been assembled for the soccer comedy “Les Seigneurs.” The film will tell the story of a former footballer living in Brittany who enlists his former teammates to train up the local fisherman to win some games to help save jobs. This is a pretty rough translation, so forgive us if a couple of details are missing/flubbed.

Things are moving quickly on the project and it already has a release date penciled in for April 11, 2012. And with Gerard Butler‘s soccer comedy “Playing the Field” also on the way, it looks like 2012 is shaping up to be a dream for fans looking for more movies centered around the sport.
