Lady Gaga has found her next film, after her star-making, Oscar-nominated role in last year’s “A Star is Born.” And she’s teaming up with one of the best filmmakers around for the project.
According to Deadline, Lady Gaga has signed on to star in an upcoming film directed by Ridley Scott that follows the true story of the assassination of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of the famed fashion icon Guccio Gucci, which was orchestrated by his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. As you might have guessed, Gaga is set to play Reggiani in the film.
The story will follow the tumultuous relationship between Reggiani and Gucci, who had two kids with each other, that ended in divorce. After the divorce, Gucci was murdered in 1995, and it was revealed that his ex-wife was behind the attack. The film is set to be written by Roberto Bentivegna, based on the Sara Gay Forden book “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.”
As mentioned, this film marks the first since Gaga won an Oscar for the music in “A Star is Born” and received acclaim for her acting in the Bradley Cooper-directed film. Previous to that, she was probably best known for her incredible singing career and had appeared in the film “Machete Kills” and the TV series “American Horror Story.”
The Gucci film will be directed by Scott, but won’t be his next project. He’s already about to begin work on the upcoming film “The Last Duel” and won’t start this film until he’s completed that one. As you might expect, there’s no release date for this, but it’s probably not going to be coming for a couple of years.
