'Last Black Man In San Francisco' Exclusive Clip: Danny Glover Gives An Emotional Performance In One Of The Best Films Of 2019

We have been beating the drum about “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” since it won us over at this year’s Sundance in January. Since then, we’ve been trying to spread the good word about Joe Talbot’s directorial debut any chance we’ve had. And we’ve recently named the film one of our Best of 2019…So Far.

And in honor of “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” opening in more theaters this weekend, we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share an exclusive clip from the drama. ‘Last Black Man’ tells the story of Jimmie Fails, a young Black man in the Bay Area, who wants to reclaim a beautiful home that his grandfather built. Through this, he struggles to reconnect with his family, as he discovers that the city has changed. In the clip, we see that actor Danny Glover is bringing his A-game to the drama, as he talks about the two brothers and his hope that they stick together.

As seen in the trailers, and of course, the film itself, the director’s love of San Francisco comes through in the most beautiful ways in the film. And in a recent interview, Talbot told us that he envisions ‘Last Black Man’ as the beginning of a new trilogy of films about his hometown.

He said, “Not the same characters necessarily or even the same story, but different characters who exist in San Francisco and have their own very strange story that comes out of the fabric of the city right now. What it is [like] to be in San Francisco right now. So. we’re hoping to come back together, a lot of the same people, and make the next one.”
