So remember last week when Fox Searchlight picked up Wes Anderson‘s “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and dropped the official synopsis, along with a staggering list of cast members? It seems they left one out: Lea Seydoux.
Yep, the French actress who recently completed Prada ads with Anderson and Roman Coppola (watch them here) has revealed she has a small role in the picture. “I’ve done four films in a row this year so now I’m taking a rest. I did a film called ‘Blue Is the Warmest Color,’ with the French director Abdellatif Kechiche, ‘Grand Centrale‘ with Tahar Rahim, then ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ with Vincent Cassel, and a few days on Wes [Anderson]’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel,’ she recently told The Telegraph.
But of course, details on her role are being kept mum. The movie follows a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel and his young employee and trusted protégé, with the plot surrounding the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the forces of history affecting Europe during the first half of the 20th century. Most cast members have been keeping their roles under lock and key, but Saoirse Ronan has been spilling some secrets here and there. She recently told us she would be using her Irish accent, and now she’s revealed a few more tidbits about her part.
“… I do work in a bakery and I have a relationship with the lead character,” she teased to the LA Times, which presumably means she’ll be involved with the little known Tony Revolori, who plays the young protege.
No release date yet, but 2013 isn’t off the table just yet, so we could see the results of what seems like Anderson’s most ambitious movie to date before the year is out.
