Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet & More Join Jennifer Lawrence In Adam McKay's 'Don't Look Up'

So, last year, we raved about the cast for Quentin Tarantino’sOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood.” It felt like the first all-star cast to rival an ‘Avengers’ film in a long time. However, it appears that Adam McKay has leapfrogged that claim and his upcoming feature, “Don’t Look Up,” might just have the best ensemble cast for a feature film…in a long time.

Before today, we already knew that Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence were signed on to star in the film about two low-level scientists that go on a media tour to warn the world about an incoming catastrophic meteor strike. And there was a report that Leonardo DiCaprio was looking at potentially signing on. Well, now it’s official and it’s not just DiCaprio who is joining Lawrence and Blanchett.

According to Deadline, DiCaprio is joining Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Himesh Patel, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, Rob Morgan, and Tomer Sisley as the latest additions to the incredible cast that McKay is putting together as his feature film follow-up to the Oscar-nominated film, “Vice.” But let’s not kid ourselves, while McKay has always had a penchant for landing huge names for his films, the cast for “Don’t Look Up” is ridiculous.

As if Netflix needed any other assurance that “Don’t Look Up” will automatically be vying for awards consideration next year, these names immediately put it over the top. How can you not expect awards season love when you have Blanchett, Streep, DiCaprio, Hill, Lawrence, and Chalamet leading the way? How many Oscar nominations do those people have combined? Don’t worry, I counted. The correct answer is 40 Oscar nominations.

It’s obviously unknown what type of role each of these actors will have. Are the bulk of these cameos or will it be a true ensemble? We’ll have to wait and see. But on paper, this is one of the best casts we can remember. And all eyes are on McKay to make sure he takes advantage of this much talent.
