Is Sofia Coppola a fan of Judd Apatow films? Man, we hope so, because if that's the case just give us a call Sofia, and we'll bring "Knocked Up" and some Orville Redenbacher.
Leslie Mann is the latest to come aboard Coppola's "The Bling Ring," joining Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga in the film. But that's not all, as a pack of newcomers including Israel Broussard, Katie Chang, Claire Pfister (related to Wally?) and Georgia Rock have also signed on as the young miscreants in the based-on-a-true-story tale about some young teens who decide to break in to celebrity homes and steal. Most of these young thesps don't have much of a profile except for Broussard, though his last gig was in the Triple H movie "The Chaperone," the trailer of which is below and should be watched if only as proof that the awesome Kevin Corrigan needs a better agent.
It will be interesting to see what the tone of the film will be, particularly with the casting of Mann as the mother of two of the girls. And while she's best known for her comedic chops, she can do drama just fine, and with the film said to be commenting on the culture of celebrity and brand obsession, we wonder if this will skew into a more satirical vein. Guess we'll see.
"The Bling Ring" will shoot this spring — could we see it before the end of the year? Seems a bit ambitious but hey, you never know. [THR]
