This past week the main lineup for the 70th Festival de Cannes was announced and it features some highly anticipated new films from Todd Haynes (“Wonderstruck”), Lynne Ramsey (“You Were Never Really Here”), Bong Jong-Ho (“Okja”) and, in something of a surprise, Noah Baumbach (“The Meyerowitz Stories”), among others.

Vulture Senior Film Editor Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) sat down with me to talk about our initial reaction to the in competition and Un Certain Regard slates including the fact the major Hollywood studios have sat this edition of the festival out in the latest edition of the 4 Quadrant podcast. We also wondered if there were any summer movies to get excited about other than “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and spent a few minutes pondering FX’s “Feud: Bette and Joan.”
