In the current crowded arena of music biopics and documentaries, “Liam Gallagher: As It Was” joins the long list of rockstar spotlights. But with the newest doc, the Oasis frontman gets center stage, but no, you won’t hear the strumming “Wonderwall” played. At least not yet.
Directed by Gavin Fitzgerald (“Conor McGregor: Notorious,” “The Fighting Irish“) and Charlie Lightening (“Paul McCartney: Back in Brazil,” “Jamiroquai: Nights Out in the Jungle“), “Liam Gallagher: As It Was” balances on the edge of a stage in front of a raucous, rebellious crowd as the documentary tries to come to terms with Gallagher’s meteoric rise, fall, and reconciliation with fame and the past. Combining archival footage of the rocker accosting reporters with his own battle with demons and reconciliation, the trailer provides a whiplash look at what the documentary has in store.
“Liam Gallagher: As It Was” hits theaters September 13, Digital HD on Sept 17, and VOD Platforms on October 8.
