Wait a minute? Didn't we have a shortlist on this already? Sort of. A couple weeks back it was reported that Ben Foster, Paul Dano, Aaron Paul and Milo Ventimiglia were all going to be reading for the part of Bruce Willis' offspring in "A Good Day To Die Hard." Well, none of those guys survived except for the "Breaking Bad" star and he's got three people fighting him for the job, that he might not get anyway due to scheduling commitments for the AMC show.
According to Deadline, Liam Hemsworth, James Badge Dale ("Shame," "The Pacific"), D.J. Cotrona and Paul are the final four for the sought after role. Plot details are thin — then again, these aren't the most densely conceived movies — but the script by Skip Woods (”X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), will apparently involve McClane battling local forces in Russia with his son. Which will be one of these dudes. Hemsworth already has one franchise on the way in "The Hunger Games" and has probably already crossed paths with Willis thanks to "The Expendables 2" so perhaps he has an edge. Dale has quickly been following his turns on "The Pacific" and "Rubicon" with roles upcoming in "The Grey" and "World War Z" so this would be a good step for him. While Cotrona — well, we haven't seen enough of him to have an opinion. Our choice is Paul who is an underrated MVP of "Breaking Bad" and deserves a big shot, so hopefully that scheduling works out.
At any rate, John Moore ("Max Payne") is directing the film which will shoot early next year in Russia with a February 14, 2013 date already good to go.
