With Liam Neeson spending most of his days lately growling and punching his way through a variety of B-grade flicks, when he does something that doesn’t involve revenge killing, it can be a refreshing surprise. We’ll be seeing him soon in Martin Scorsese‘s “Silence,” the kind of role we didn’t think he’d ever do again, and that’s not all. He’s also playing five-star general Douglas MacArthur in “Operation Chromite,” and the first trailer for the movie I totally didn’t even know existed, has arrived.

Directed by John H. Lee (who is lined up to helm the remake of John Woo‘s “The Killer“), the South Korean production co-stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Bum-soo, and Jin Se-yun, and details the Incheon Landing Operation that changed the tide of the Korean War, with the focus on eight Korean war heroes. The promo looks like your standard war drama flick, except for that the scene that has a roomful of people pointing guns at each other, like it was lifted straight out of a ’90s indie crime flick….or “The Killer.” Maybe John H. Lee is the right guy for that gig after all.
There’s no release date yet for “Operation Chromite,” or a U.S. distributor, but it would appear this one will be rolling out in South Korea first, before hitting other territories.
