Liam Neeson is an actor that is able to wear many hats. Whether that’s the star of prestige dramas like “Schindler’s List,” the aging action star in the ‘Taken’ series, the supervillain in “Batman Begins,” or the Jedi in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” Neeson is able to really do just about anything. But now, as he gets older, there are certain roles that he just doesn’t seem interested in, which is likely going to bum out some fandoms.

According to a new interview with ET Online, Neeson was asked if fans can ever expect to see him return to the superhero film genre (as he did in the aforementioned Christopher Nolan ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy). And somewhat surprisingly, the actor not only says that he’s not interested in that anymore, but he also doesn’t see himself doing any sort of superhero or “Star Wars”-esque films again.
“I’m really not a huge fan of the genre,” said Neeson. “I think it’s Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the technical achievements and stuff — which I admire — but I have no desire to go into the gym for three hours every day to pump myself up to squeeze into a Velcro suit with a cape.”
He added, “ It’s just not my genre, it really isn’t. The first ‘Star Wars,’ I was in that, that was 22 years ago, and I enjoyed that, because it was novel and that was new. I was acting to tennis balls, which were ultimately going to be little fuzzy furry creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, to try and make that seem real, but that was the last. It’s quite exhausting.”
Despite his filmography that includes action films for days, it appears that the technical aspects of acting opposite tennis balls and in silly costumes is what Neeson truly finds exhausting. And hell, at his age, the man can choose whatever he wants. Just don’t expect him in the MCU anytime soon or in his own “Star Wars” spin-off.
