Liam Neeson is 60 years old, and it seems as far as he’s concerned, he’s gonna kick and punch his way until he settles into grandpa roles. Dude is gonna crack skulls in “Non-Stop,” hunt people down in “A Walk Among The Tombstones” and run all night in “Run All Night.” And now he’s facing his greatest foes yet — Bonnie and Clyde.
That’s right, even though it seems every producer in town wants to take a run at the storied, young killers (reminder, Emile Hirsch is toplining a new Lifetime/History Channel miniseries on the duo) “The Blind Side” director John Lee Hancock has a wholly different angle to work from. He’s courting, sending flowers and love notes to Neeson and Woody Harrelson for “Highwaymen” where the pair would play the Texas rangers who gave a bullet-riddled end to the outlaw kids. Sounds pretty bad-ass.
This is a movie Hancock has been kicking around since early 2012, but with his upcoming and possibly Oscar contending “Saving Mr. Banks” nearing the finish line, it looks like he doesn’t want to wait around and perhaps shoot something a bit lighter and breezier. Lord knows Hancock can put on a show (“The Alamo“), but the potential pairing of Neeson and Harrelson as Texas lawmen has us sold already. [Deadline]
