Where oh where has Amy Schumer gone the last few years? Frankly, some are glad she left the spotlight, but relax, everyone: there’s a legitimate reason Schumer hasn’t been around very much the last few years. Schumer married chef Chris Fischer in 2018, then had a child with him in 2019, and then, you know, COVID happened. So, no surprise that Schumer’s family life took precedence over her career recently.
Schumer’s 2020 HBO Max documentary miniseries, “Expecting Amy,” covers that ground, for those interested. As for her big comeback project, that’s on the way now, too. Schumer returns with “Life & Beth,” an all-new Hulu original series coming this spring. Schumer stars (and writes, directs, and executive produces) as a successful Manhattanite forced to take stock of her life after a sudden event forces her to check in with her past.
Here’s the show’s official synopsis, courtesy of Hulu:
Beth’s life would look pretty great on paper. Impressive to everyone she grew up with. She makes a good living as a wine distributor. She’s in a long term relationship with a successful guy and lives in Manhattan. When a sudden incident forces Beth to engage with her past her life changes forever. Through flashbacks to her teen self, Beth starts to learn how she became who she is and who she wants to become. We’ll go on her journey towards building a bigger, bolder and more authentic life. Learning to express herself and living in an intentional way. A trip down memory lane is a strong source of trauma, comedy and moving forward.
“Life & Beth” also stars Michael Cera, Michael Rappaport, Kevin Kane, Violet Young, Susannah Flood, Lavar Walker, and Giovanni Lopes. Arielle Siegel, Rosebud Baker, and Lily Fisher also star.
Will Schumer gain a career resurgence with “Life & Beth?” Audiences find out when the show hits Hulu this spring. Check out the trailer below.
