‘Uno’: Rapper Lil Yachty To Produce & Possibly Star In New Action-Comedy Heist Based On Card Game

In the latest example of Hollywood Mad Libs, we have the newest film adaptation of a board game, with “Uno” coming from Mattel Films. But if you thought a film based on “Uno” was weird enough, you have no idea what you’re about to learn.

According to THR, an “Uno” film is in development from Mattel Films and rapper Lil Yachty. Yes, you read that right. Lil Yachty is producing “Uno” and is looking at possibly starring in the feature, as well.

Let that sink in for a second. Because inevitably, you’re about to ask, “But what the hell is an ‘Uno’ movie even about?” Well, I’m glad you asked. You see, “Uno” is being described as an action-comedy heist film, set in the underground hip hop culture in Atlanta. Yes, you’re allowed to take another moment to let that craziness settle in. We don’t want to go too fast and melt your brain.

“UNO is a game that transcends generations and cultures, and we look forwards to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach K and Brian Sher, to transform the classic UNO game into a comedic action-adventure,” said Mattel executive Robbie Brenner.

Lil Yachty added, “I played UNO as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta hip hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”

If you were wondering, Lil Yachty does have acting experience. He voiced Green Lantern in “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies,” as well as having roles in “Life-Size 2” and “How High 2.” “Uno” joins recent board game film announcements such as the “Rubik’s Cube” film and “Risk.” We are in for some strange films in the next few years, folks.
