Cameras are now rolling on Paul Weitz‘s untitled adaptation of Nick Flynn‘s “Another Bullshit Night In Suck City,” and two more actresses have joined the excellent cast for the film.
Indie film veteran Lili Taylor (“I Shot Andy Warhol,” “The Notorious Betty Page,” “Six Feet Under“) and recent Indie Spirit winner Dale Dickey (Best Supporting Actress for “Winter’s Bone“) have joined the film that also includes Robert De Niro, Paul Dano, Julianne Moore and Olivia Thirlby. The story follows Nick, a young man in his twenties (Dano) who works at various homeless shelters in Boston, who spots his estranged father (De Niro) seeking a bed one night. Thirlby will play Denise, the love interest who helps Dano land the job, while Moore will play Nick’s mother, Jody. No word yet on Taylor or Dickey’s roles in the picture.
Though Weitz has been behind a number of turds lately — “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant,” “American Dreamz” and “Little Fockers” — the material and cast here appear to be solid and we hope it’s a rebound to his “About A Boy“-level of quality. No release date yet for the film, but maybe it’ll trek up to Sundance in January?
