Here are a couple of tunes to help wind down your day, although yes, they are quiet different. Okay, they are worlds apart. But it's all music, okay?
First up, French electronic duo Air have provided a tease (via NME) of their next effort La Voyage Dans Le Lune. As the title suggests, it is indeed a soundtrack to Georges Méliès famed movie of the same name. The group debuted their work at the Cannes Film Festival this spring alongside a newly restored version of the silent film classic and now it's coming to record stores everywhere to dance on your earbuds. The track here, "Seven Stars," finds the pair teaming up with breathy vocals of Beach House member Victoria Legrand and the result is almost a perfect synthesis of the two band's sounds (except for the mid-song freakout/countdown). It's quite nice, though how it works with the film we're curious to see.
Not feeling Christmas-y this year? Then Johnny Depp may have the solution for you. He's been palling around lately with Brit band Babybird — best known for palling around with Depp and writing the theme song for Gordon Ramsay's "The F Word" — and he directed a video for the group last year. Well controversy is always a good way to get some attention, and the band have earned some thanks to "Jesus Stag Night Club." The song is about a Jesus lookalike who hangs out at strip clubs and the easily offended Christian Coalition are all up in arms. The Daily Star reports that the group has said, "One day, Johnny Depp and his cronies will face the judgment of our Lord and they will burn in hell for this filth.” Meanwhile, Focus On The Family simply call it "appalling." We're mostly offended by how bad this song is simply on musical terms.
