So a bit of good news/bad news for David Lynch fans. The good news is that he’s got something new to share with you, the bad news is that it isn’t a new movie. Nope, the director has instead cranked out another album, this time called The Big Dream, which is far less of a Lynch-ian name than his previous effort, Crazy Clown Time. But as usual, he’s got some surprises up his sleeve.
Most notably, he’s teamed with Swedish sensation Lykke Li for “I’m Waiting Here,” and while you can listen to it in advance, if you want to own it, you’ll have to buy the digital or vinyl editions of the album. Meanwhile, Lynch also covers Bob Dylan‘s “The Ballad Of Hollis Brown” among the rest of the album which contains 11 original tunes. “Most of the songs start out as a type of blues jam and then we go sideways from there. What comes out is a hybrid, modernized form of low-down blues,” Lynch describes his latest music, though we’re guessing “blues” is a pretty loose definition.
Anyway, the album drops on July 16th and you can hit iTunes to hear 90 second samples of all the tracks. Artwork, tracklisting, the Vine promo and more below. [Pitchfork]
