From Jake Gyllenhaal reading the audiobook to the 3D visuals to the Jay-Z produced soundtrack, “The Great Gatsby” is driving the hoop to cover the demographic known as: 15-34. That’s where the money is at the box office and if you’re dusting off a book that many kids associate with English class, you better make it worth your while. But that means for the rest of us, “The Great Gatsby” might be ear poison.
Following last week’s tease of Nero‘s “Into The Past,” now comes the full blown track featuring the unlikely combination of Fergie, Q-Tip and GoonRock with “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got).” Raise tha roof? In case you don’t know who GoonRock is, he’s the producer responsible for LMFAO‘s “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It” and he drops a similar vibe here, with Q-Tip phoning in a verse and the whole song being a pretty empty array of faceless beats and stuff about partying or whatever. Now picture Leonardo DiCaprio, 3D camerawork and the prose of F. Scott Fitzgerald over this. Yikes.
The soundtrack drops on May 7th with the movie coming on May 10th. Listen if you dare below. [Rolling Stone]
