Aside from the visuals, perhaps the most striking aspect of Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby“ thus far has been the film’s music. Luhrmann’s movies, particularly “Romeo + Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge!,” have always been known for their lustrous soundtracks, and “The Great Gatsby” is no different in that regard. The xx are among the number of artists rounded up to provide tunes for the movie, and their song “Together,” which was written exclusively for the film, has just been made available to listen to in full. You can check it out below.
Aside from The xx, the soundtrack also has new material from Jay-Z, Florence and the Machine, and Lana del Rey. The rest of the artists include Sia, Gotye, Jack White, Fergie, Nero, and Beyonce and Andre 3000 do a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.” And that track is also available for your ears, though in a quick 30-second snippet. All told, it’s an impressive roster to say the least. The soundtrack comes out internationally on May 6th and in the US on May 7th. The film hits theaters a few days later on May 10th.
