'Little Fires Everywhere' Trailer: Reese Witherspoon & Kerry Washington Star In New Hulu Drama Series

Reese Witherspoon has been on fire (no pun intended) recently with her TV roles. Series such as “Big Little Lies” and the recent “The Morning Show” have proven the actress is a powerhouse on the small screen. Now, she moves to Hulu for “Little Fires Everywhere” and it looks like her small-screen luck with continue.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name, “Little Fires Everywhere” tells the story of something we’ve seen all too much in film and TV — the white savior. In this case, however, the trope of the upper-class white person coming in to “rescue” the underprivileged Black person is flipped on its head as the relationship goes from cordial to deadly. When Witherspoon’s character attempts to help out a new person in her town, with what seems like altruistic intentions but with an undercurrent of selfishness, the condescending and insincere relationship breeds hostility and looks to end with a house on fire.

The highly-anticipated Hulu limited series stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington, alongside Joshua Jackson, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jade Pettyjohn, Jordan Elsass, Gavin Lewis, Megan Stott, Lexi Underwood, Huang Lu, and Jesse Williams.

“Little Fires Everywhere” will be comprised of eight episodes with the first arriving on Hulu on March 18.

Based on Celeste Ng’s 2017 bestseller, Little Fires Everywhere follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. The story explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster.
