Long-Form Promo Trailer: Michael Winterbottom's 'The Killer Inside Me' Starring Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba & Kate Hudson

This promo trailer comes out of nowhere and smells like it was released on the quiet because of the American Film Market where producers and filmmaker are currently trying to entice buyers to distribute their films. Whatever the case, it’s out there now and it’s all to our benefit to get an early look.

A long-form promo trailer for Michael Winterbottom’s “The Killer Inside Me” has made its way online and you can see it below. It’s almost six minutes long.

Get it while you can, someone will surely pull something that long down soon. It also borrows some of the Nick Cave and Warren Ellis-penned score from’ “The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward John Ford.”

Set in the 1950s, the film stars Casey Affleck, as a West Texas sheriff who spirals downward; starting as a bored small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer trying to cement his innocence when the evidence looks suspicious. He plays creeps pretty well (see ‘Jesse James’) and look unnerving here as well. Kate Hudson co-stars as the sheriff’s girlfriend, plays Simon Baker as a county attorney looking to expose the sheriff, Jessica Alba is a prostitute and Ned Beatty and Bill Pullman also star in unknown roles (though Pullman looks like a preacher).

The film is based on a Jim Thompson novel — the author who co-wrote Stanley Kubrick’s classic-heist-caper “The Killing.” Filming took place during the summer in Oklahoma and a summer 2010 release is being eyed, though a distributor hasn’t signed on yet. But that’s what AFM week is really all about.
