Look Out! Gareth Edwards' 'Godzilla' Arrives On May 16, 2014 In 3D

nullWell, "Godzilla" is coming and it's going to be big. Warner Bros. already surprised nerds this summer at Comic-Con when they dropped an unnanounced teaser trailer during their Hall H presentation that blew the roof off. Not much has been heard since, but now the wheels are firmly being put in motion.

The studio has the announced the Gareth Edwards-directed take on the legendary movie monster will drop into theaters on May 16, 2014—the same date tentatively slated for the embattled "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Of course, details are being kept under wraps but the project is being described as a return to its epic gritty roots, in a movie that will be a gritty and realistic actioner. David Callaham (“The Expendables” films), David S. Goyer (the “Dark Knight” trilogy) and Max Borenstein (upcoming “The Seventh Son”) have been penned the script and of course, the film is expected to be presented in 3D (though no word if it will be shot in the format too).

Lots more to come including casting and whatnot, but Edwards, who made his name on the lo-fi "Monsters" is making a helluva leap here. But undoubtedly he's got the time to get it right and we'll be curious to see what his approach will bring to the giant monster we know so well.
