There always seems to be one Nicolas Cage movie or another knocking around, but it seems we’ve hit a particular moment of #PeakCage. The actor is currently bringing some gonzo performances in the nutty “Mom & Dad” and the apparently absolutely batshit Sundance flick “Mandy.” However, for the upcoming “Looking Glass,” the actor dials down the crazy and as a result is actually a bit more compelling than has been in anything lately.
Directed by TV veteran Tim Hunter (“Riverdale,” “Hannibal,” “American Horror Story“) and co-starring Robin Tunney and Marc Blucas, the story seems to slightly borrow from Gay Talese‘s slightly controversial “non-fiction” book “The Voyeur’s Motel.” The plot revolves a mild-mannered, new motel owner who finds a crawlspace where he can peek into the reviews. That’s pretty creepy, but he finds himself caught up into more trouble when one of his guests winds up dead, and cops come knocking. Couple that with Nic Cage dancing in a bar and wrangling a snake (!?) and this could be….interesting.
Check into “Looking Glass” when it hits cinemas and VOD on February 16th. [USA Today]
