Greg Berlanti is mostly known as the hit TV producer behind “Riverdale,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl,” “Blindspot,” and countless other series. But he does have filmmaking aspirations too. His last big screen effort was 2010’s mostly forgotten “Life As We Know It” starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel, but now he’s back with something in his tweenage sweetspot with “Love, Simon.”
Starring Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, Alexandra Shipp, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Miles Heizer, Keiynan Lonsdale, Logan Miller, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel, and Tony Hale, and based on the book by Becky Albertalli, the story follows a teenage who navigates the complications of coming out. Here’s the official synopsis:
Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.
“Love, Simon” opens on March 16, 2018.
