Well, it’s officially two months away, starting today. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is almost here, and in the lead-up to a new trailer, Kathleen Kennedy and co. have released a new poster. And look for the details, John Boyega’s character with a light saber again — is he a Jedi? — no Luke Skywalker to be discernibly seen and the characters from the old guard are in the background. And man, is that another Death Star? Also note, while Pixar screenwriter Michael Arndt left the project early, seemingly due to some creative differences, he’s still co-credited with the screenplay according to the poster credits.
Meanwhile, Lucasfilm announced today that the trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will debut on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” on Monday, October 19, during halftime of the National Football League (NFL) game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. The game starts at 5:15 p.m. PDT/8:15 p.m. EDT. The Spanish language version of the trailer will air on ESPN Deportes simultaneously.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” opens in U.S. theaters on December 18th.
