Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion over “The Farewell,” thanks to the film’s awards recognition, including two recent Golden Globes nominations. And while we’ll gladly talk about “The Farewell” for the next few months, as we make our way through Oscars season, that film’s director Lulu Wang has just dropped a major tease about her next project.
The filmmaker took to social media to not only make an announcement that she’s working on a new project, but also to say what actress would be in the cast. On Twitter, Wang posted an image of herself sitting at dinner with actress Nicole Kidman. And in her caption, she flat-out announced that the two women are working together on a new project.

Wang tweeted, “New partners in crime who got tired of waiting for the official announcement and decided to drop this here because we could not be more excited! (Wine may have been involved, so studio-that shall-not-be-named-yet please don’t sue us.)”

Obviously, we don’t know anything about the upcoming project, except that a studio is involved and Wang has already brought Kidman on board in some capacity (most likely as an actress, at the very least). And you know what? Based on “The Farewell” and Kidman’s recent work on projects such as “Big Little Lies,” just knowing the two women are working together is already enough to get us excited.
