Bloopers and mistakes in movies or TV series are nothing new, but rarely do they get noticed by so many people that they become features instead of bugs. When a regular-clothed crew member was spotted in the background during a scene in “The Mandalorian,” it became an Internet sensation that fans dubbed “Jeans Guy.” Sadly, it appears Disney giveth and Disney taketh away, as they already removed the blooper from the episode.
The crew member fans dubbed “Jeans Guy” was spotted during the episode titled “The Siege,” in the background of a shot with Greef Karga, Cara Dune, and the titular Mandalorian. He even received his own Wookieepedia entry, where he was listed as “Admiral Jeff Blue-Jeans,” an Imperial officer who fought with the Empire on several occasions. Den of Geek managed to grab screenshots of the entry before it was deleted, where Jeans Guy’s was described as “Known for his strange look of a T-Shirt and blue jeans, he was a cunning warrior and a respected individual.”
Sadly, by the time the latest episode premiered this past Friday, “Jeans Guy” was already digitally removed from the episode. The blooper was instantly compared to the infamous Starbucks coffee cup that made its way into an episode of the last season of “Game of Thrones,” which was similarly digitally removed for future airings.
It appears that even when “The Mandalorian” throws fan-favorite characters and surprising reveals at the audience, nothing grabs attention as quickly as a small mistake in the background of a single shot. If only the digital corrections could extend to fix other mistakes like the now-infamous “Maclunkey!” from the Disney+ version of the original “Star Wars.”
