Mandy Moore, Kellan Lutz (“Twilight”), James Brolin and Jane Seymour are all set to join the romantic comedy “Love, Wedding, Marriage” according to THR.
That’s not too shabby of a cast for actor Dermot Mulroney who will be making his directorial debut with this picture. And it must be a pretty decent script as high profile actors like Jessica Alba, Christopher Walken and Blythe Danner were also circling the film at one point.
The film focuses on a newlywed marriage counselor (Moore) who life gets thrown a curveballe when she learns that her parents — who she believed had the perfect marriage — are headed for divorce. She then sets out on a disastrous path to salvage their marriage at the expense of herself and everyone around her. Hilarity ensues? Brolin and Seymour will obviously play the parents and Lutz will play her husband.
But let’s face it, that longline sounds pretty rote rom-com, frankly. The screenplay was written by Caprice Crane (a writer for the new reboots of “Melrose Place” and “90210”) and Anouska Chydzik who doesn’t have any discernible IMDB writing credits (though as we’ve learned in the past, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t sold scripts or had others in development). Let’s hope it’s at least better than Moore’s last few rom-coms which have really stunk up the screen.
The film will start shooting next week in Louisiana (film productions still adore those New Orleans tax incentives). The only other interesting element of this article is that it tells us that Brolin also had an appearance in David O. Russell “Nailed,” a project that THR calls “upcoming,” but that really remains to be seen.
