Mark Wahlberg Offered Lead In 'The Crow' Remake

This was going to be a funny comment until we remembered Nick Cave is writing it

Ok, first day on a new site and the wheels are a little creaky, and we’re a little cranky as we get into the swing of things, but then there are stories like this one which make us smile. Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in the gestating remake of “The Crow.”

Now before you laugh yourself silly or think to yourself “not in a million billion years” (as we did) the news isn’t all that surprising when you remember that Nick Cave is attached to rewrite the project. Yes, the Nick Cave of “The Proposition” and of the totally off the chain Grinderman. So we can see why Walhberg might not toss the offer and script into the garbage bin right away.

But not everything is awesome on the Relativity Media production. Hack (and the dude who made Sean Connery never act again) Stephen Norrington (“Blade,” “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen“), is still attached to direct. In case you never saw the emo/goth sort-of classic that is the 1994 Brandon Lee starrer, the vengeance-fueled tale follows follows a man resurrected by a mystical crow after he and his girlfriend are murdered. Basically, it could also be your standard Nick Cave song. So Mark Wahlberg in white facepaint and smoky dark eyeliner? Yeah, we’d buy a ticket.
