…well, that certainly would've been different. Mark Wahlberg hasn't dipped his toes into the sci-fi genre much, and we'd reckon maybe that's because of the whole "Planet Of The Apes" thing. And while he's reuniting with his bud Michael Bay for "Transfomers 4," the actor reveals that he couldn've been part of another icon franchise…had he understood the script.
Sitting with Total Film to do press for "Broken City" as it rolls out across the pond, Wahlberg shared that had things gone differently, he could have played a supporting role in "Star Trek." "I remember [J.J. Abrams] asking me to play Captain Kirk's father," he shares, adding: "I tried to read the script, but I couldn't understand the words or dialogue or anything, and I said, I couldn't do this." Wahlberg elaborates that he didn't really watch much sci-fi as a kid (he's only seen the original "Star Wars") so it's not a shock he probably didn't get all the winky referencing going in Abrams' reboot.
The ultimately small part went to Chris Hemsworth, but we'd wager that had Wahlberg taken it, the role might've been bigger. Thoughts? Would Wahlberg work in the world of "Star Trek"? Tell us below.
