Marvel Entertainment posted their Q4 operating results and their net results were a fortune.
“For Q4 2008, Marvel reported net sales of $224.3 million and net income of $63.0 million, or $0.80 per diluted share, compared to net sales of $109.3 million and net income of $27.6 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, in Q4 2007. “The improvement reflects recognition of $135.5 million in film production segment revenues principally associated with the DVD performance of Marvel’s Iron Man feature film”
Awesome, congrats, that means lots more super-hero films, right? Ermm.. awesome. Wait, so if Mickey Rourke was only offered $250,000 for his possible villain role in “Iron Man 2” and the announcement of Marvel’s profits came out today… it can only mean one thing: Either Marvel just signed deal with Rourke’s people about 15 minutes before the press release went out. Or Rourke is insulted beyond belief, on the phone laying into his agent right now and promising them that if this was some back-alley Miami street, Marvel would get beat within an inch of their life something fierce.
