Movie release dates right now fluctuate about as much as the list of directors for a DC movie, meaning you can’t be 100% anything will actually get released until you’re sitting down in a theater and credits roll. Now that Christopher Nolan‘s “Tenet” has finally shifted its release date, Warner Bros. went ahead and pushed the rest of its slate for the next couple of years, starting with “Matrix 4” and “Godzilla Vs. Kong.”

The long-awaited sequel to “The Matrix” has now officially moved its release date from May 21, 2021, to April 1, 2022. The film paused production due to the pandemic but may restart next month. Sadly, this means that those waiting to see a Keanu Reeves double-feature and go from Neo to “John Wick 4” will have to wait for the digital release. Though originally both movies were scheduled to be released on the same weekend next year, they are now going to premiere over one month apart.
When it comes to the kaiju fight to end all kaiju fights, Adam Wingard‘s “Godzilla Vs Kong” is pushed back a year, going from this November to May 21, 2021, the same month its predecessor, the underwhelming “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” was released.

Meanwhile, the new animation and live-action hybrid film based on “Tom & Jerry” moves from this December to a new release date on March 5, 2021. Robert Zemeckis‘s adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s “The Witches” will not be released on October 9, 2021 as originally intended. Warner Bros. has instead completely taken the film off its release slate. There is also an untitled New Line horror film scheduled for June 4, 2021, which Forbes suggests could be James Wan‘s return to horror, “Malignant.”
