Boston Rapper Slaine Also A Part Of ‘Cogan’s Trade’
A couple casting tidbits on a few projects we’ve been keeping a very keen eye on.
First up, film and televison vet Max Martini is the latest thesp to join the cast of Guillermo Del Toro‘s upcoming post-‘Hobbit‘ monster-robot mash-up “Pacific Rim.” The actor will star alongside Brits Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba as well as “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” star Charlie Day, who will all presumably form part of the human resistance against an alien invasion that threatens Earth. Travis Beacham penned the script for Del Toro, with lensing set to get underway this fall for summer 2013 release.
The second directorial effort of “Blue Valentine” helmer Derek Cianfrance, meanwhile, has seemingly found the last piece to its puzzle with newcomer Emory Cohen now on board as the son of Bradley Cooper‘s policeman-turned-politician character and his wife, played by Greta Gerwig. Cohen will play a drug dealing teen who’s resentful of his father and goes on to clash with the son of his father’s own rival, played by Dane DeHaan. The film begins shooting later this month with Eva Mendes, Ben Mendelsohn, Ray Liotta, Ali Mahershalalhasbaz and Gabe Fazio all co-starring.
Finally, Boston-based rapper Slaine has managed to score another supporting role in a high profile project after featuring in both of Ben Affleck‘s directorial efforts to date (he was one of Affleck’s crew members in “The Town“). The rapper recently revealed he’s played a part in Andrew Dominik‘s “Cogan’s Trade” and, while his role is still unknown, it is seemingly significant enough to have a stunt double.
Also known as George Carroll, Slaine will feature in the stellar ensemble cast including Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, Scoot McNairy, Richard Jenkins, James Gandolfini, Garret Dillahunt, Sam Shepard, Bella Heathcote, Vincent Curatola and Ben Mendelsohn with the pic set for a March 2012 release.
